The province is almost all mountainous, and includes the geographical areas called Cadore, Feltrino, Alpago, Val di Zoldo dell'Agordino, Comelico and Ampezzano, the eastern side of the Dolomite group, inhabited by a lively Ladin community, and the Valbelluna valley in the south, where the province capital is located.
