How to reach Montepulciano
Montepulciano is situated in the southern province of Siena, about 2 hours from Rome and 1 hour from Siena and Florence. The seaside resorts of the Maremma coast can be reached in just over 1 hour. Following the A1 motorway: from the north, exit Valdichiana - Bettolle, drive through Bettolle, then towards Torrita di Siena and Montepulciano; from the south exit Chiusi - Chianciano Terme, drive through Chianciano Terme, then proceed to Montepulciano.
There is a train station at Montepulciano Stazione. To reach it, take a train through the main line Rome - Florence - Bologna - Milan, change at Chiusi - Chianciano Terme on to the regional train to Siena (line Empoli - Siena - Chiusi) and stop at Montepulciano [train timetables and tickets available on the official Trenitalia website].
There are a number of airports within reach of Montepulciano, the nearest being Aeroporto Amerigo Vespucci - Peretola (see website) 120 km away, then Pisa (160 km) and Roma-Fiumicino (200 km).
