What to see

• The Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista, originally in the Romanesque church, but renovated in more recent times. In the central apse there is an important polyptich (a multi-panel painting) dated 1535 by Giuseppe Giovenone the Elder, representing Jesus Baptism with Saints, and on the left altar a statue by Defendente Ferrari representing the Madonna del Popolo.
• The tower of San Rocco, the only remaining part of the ancient medieval walls
• About half a mile from the town, the chapel of Santa Maria of Spinerano, an 11th century church with beautiful 15th century frescoes inside by Domenico della Marca from Ancona.
