Arpino, Province of Frosinone, Lazio
Ancient center situated on a hill to the east of the Liri valley, was the native town of Roman politician Caius Marius and orator Cicero. Of special interest is the ancient borough of Civitavecchia, a fortress of pre-Roman times on which later medieval fortifications were added.

History
Arpino was founded by the Volsci, then conquered by the Romans in 305 BC. It was the native town of political leader Marius and orator Cicero. After the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 AD, it was sacked by the Lombards. In the Middle Ages it had close relations with Montecassino and in the 16th century with the Dukedom of Alvito.

- The Boncompagni Palace
- The church of San Michele, in the Gothic style but renovated in the 18th century, contains paintings of the Cavalier d'Arpino.
