After the First World War, these territories entered the Kingdom of Italy under the Province of Udine which was renamed the Province of Friuli. The Province of Trieste was established in 1923 and in 1927 the Province of Gorizia was separated from Udine including the territories of the District of Monfalcone and the District of Idrica.
