Piemonte (Piedmont) is a region in north-western Italy, bordering France to the west and Switzerland to the north, with a varied territory mostly mountainous in the north and plain to the south, rich of castles and palaces since it was the original county of the Savoy family, one of the oldest dynasties in Europe.
