Ginestra degli Schiavoni, Province of Benevento, Campania
The least populated municipality of the province, it is located in the middle Miscano valley, east of the of Cuparella valley and west of the Ginestra, a tributary of the river Miscano. Its name was originally "Ginestra", from the broom plant typical of the area. After the Ottoman conquest of the Balkans around 1528, about forty Christian families from Dalmatia, at the time called "Schiavonia", were relocated to Ginestra, which explains the toponym.
