Sirignano, Province of Avellino, Campania
The municipality is located in the west of the province of Avellino, on the border with the metropolitan city of Naples, about 20 km from Avellino and 38 from Naples.
It is one of the six centers of the historical-geographical region called Baianese, a mountainous and hilly area surrounded entirely by the Avella Mountains. The six municipalities - Baiano, Avella, Mugnano del Cardinale, Quadrelle, Sirignano and Sperone - are conurbated with each other; also, the population do not speak the Irpinian dialect but a variety of the Nolano. The agricultural activity is very intensive in the area.

History
The origins of the center are ancient. In the Middle Ages Sirignano was a hamlet of Avella. From 1313 it became property of the Montevergine Abbey and later of the Real Casa of the Annunziata of Naples.
In 1888 prince Giuseppe Caravita (1849-1920), Tomasi di Lampedusa's grandchild, was the mayor of the village and turned his Palace into a famous literary circle, frequented, among others, by Salvatore di Giacomo and Enrico Caruso.
