Situated below monte Campolico, 12 km from the southern Ionian coast, the place is included in the Aspromonte national park. The typical houses are built on terraces rising on the mountain slopes, for a better protection against pirates.

History
Staiti rose in the 15th century first as a "casale" (group of farming houses of shepherds and peasants) then came under the lordship of Eleonora Staiti who named it and gave to the new "universitas" her coat of arms.
