Lanciano - Finally home from the lager / Morì nel lager nel ’44
No official ceremony, only a private Mass in the church of St. Peter's before burial. The family of Vincenzo Nicolucci, missing since 1944, only in 1998 were able to find the father's tomb in Frankfurt. Today son Antonio, 59, will drive to Fiumicino, where the urn with his father's ashes arrived with the remains of 15 more Italian war victims. The Italian soldier died of a lung disease in a concentration camp.

Casoli - Unpublished tales by Antonino Di Giorgio / Presentazione dei racconti inediti, by Gino Melchiorre
Antonino Di Giorgio left some unpublished stories, now collected by wife Silvia Catalfamo and given to print as «Una casa di donne», publisher Rocco Carabba (15.49 euro). Ten years ago his novel «Un'estate in bicicletta» set in Casoli during the summer of 1943, dealing with the conflicts of everyday life, sometimes bordering on tragedy, was a great surprise to a literary world that never noticed him before. A great document of an Abruzzo that is disappearing. Antonino Di Giorgio wrote his books in perfect solitude, but appreciation among the critics is rising steadily.
