The Beccaceci family from Giulianova are almost a symbol of Abruzzo cuisine, since Andrea's great grandfather had a small inn where horse riders used to stop. Soon after the war celebrated Tazio Nuvolari stopped for a meal, but Nonna Beccaceci did not want to serve him fish, which was a poor meal. And many other famous personages enjoyed the Beccaceci art: Sergio Leone, Gigi Proietti, politicians and football players, Ottavio Missoni.

On Sunday afternoon the 8th edition of «MotoMagnalonga», a culinary event in connection with a motorcycle gathering. In the 1950's the emigration to Venezuela stormed through Abruzzo, with the mirage of easy wealth, oil and diamonds. When they arrived what they saw was a poor country, ravaged by social injustice, no running water, no sewage system . One million Italians were attracted by that dream. Half of the country's wealth is in the hands of a few families. A minority of the Italians made a fortune and came back to invest in Italy. The majority are surviving waiting for better times, and a handful of enterpreneurs from Abruzzo are prominent citizens. An Abruzzese, Gaetano Bafile, is the President of La Voce d'Italia, Caracas Italian newspaper.
