Pescara - Computers, books, love under the tree with distance adoptions / Computer, libri e tanto affetto sotto l'albero dei Vip - Il nonno di Debora Caldora e le adozioni a distanza, la Parigi di Torlontano e lo storico presepe di casa Grilli , by Laura Valentini
Bored with the same frivolous gifts? Follow the example of grandfather Arnaldo, who gives to each of his eight grandchildren a distance adoption. Senator Pastore will buy electronics items. Teresa Torlontano will have a history book as usuals, and will give money to her children, but would really like from her husband an air ticket to Paris. Gino Grilli remembers his most beautiful Christmas gift, a Spanish hand-made crib with Arabic-dressed characters, where his young son always inserted one of his playmobile pieaces. And to this son, now grown-up and working as a journalist in Bologna, last year mr Grilli gave a playmobile character as when he was a child.

Teramo - Ten important people choose gifts to receive and to give / Dieci Vip scelgono il regalo di Natale da ricevere e da donare - by Nicola Catenaro
Mayor Angelo Sperandio would like to give out jobs, and receive more serenity in his working days. Alfiero Barnabei, the president of Unione industriali, wishes health and jobs, like Giandomenico Di Sante of the Banca popolare dell'Adriatico. Gianni Chiodi thinks a gift must not be something material and chooses a book or classical music record. Vice-mayor Gianni Di Pietro would like as a present the victory of his favourite soccer team, Inter and would give a baseball club to Massimo D'Alema». Antonio Tancredi of the Banca di Teramo would like to give a better bank to the community and receive the Teramo Mare (a highway connecting Teramo to the sea). Lino Nisii of Tercas would give a better justice system, and receive a ticket to Australia for six months, like Gloriano Lanciotti of Cna. Mimmo De Carolis does not think he'll receive gifts, since he does not trust mankind. Luigi Alessiani would like to give a cleaner city.

The two faces of Christmas / Le due immagini del Natale - by Andrea Leonzio (Trade Union secretary)
In Italian art the nativity is seen as a poor shepherd scene by Cimabue (the Christmas of the poor) and as a magnificent parade of costumes by Botticelli (the Christmas of the rich). For one day the powerful of the Earth rember they are Christian and promise they'll do what they can to change what is negative, but then? My best wishes to those who help create wealth, to workers, the 13,000 unemployed in our town, the families of work victims, and our new generations whose enthusiasm may change the decline of our city.

Pescara - The tragic stories of two poor nomadic parents and their child's death of cold / La storia impietosa dei poveri nomadi in fuga come il bambino di Betlemme - by Marcello Mammarella (parish priest of Regina della Pace)
This story of God that is born a child in Bethlehem gives today in my hands Nadia, who died in a tent where her poor parents had stopped for two nights. A child God had created to live, not to die. I don't feel like accusing men's indifference to the weak. The cry from the anguished heart of a poor mother, foreign to this city, is disturbing our Christmas, and our hopes for penitence in the Jubilee. The doctors said the child was as beautiful as a crib's angel. Her eyes are closed now, while our eyes stare at the neon lights of shop windows, which cannot ever fill our empty hearts.

Sulmona - Top gifts: cellphones, diamonds, steam cleaners, men's perfumes and books / Tra i regali sotto l'albero telefonini, diamanti e "vaporetti" - by Danea Campanella
A rapid survey among the shops in town gives as top gift in the list a dual-band cellphone, mostly a Nokia or Alcatel. Jewellers this year say white gold is much in demand and of course the classical diamonds. In the bookshops best sellers are "La figlia della fortuna" by Isabel Allende, "I dieci anni che hanno salvato l'Italia" by Abruzzese Bruno Vespa and "Odore di Cipria" by Enzo Biagi. Male-line perfumes see a prevalence of Dolce e Gabbana, Christian Dior and Calvin Kline, and in hi-fi shops Celentano, the 883 and Baglioni. Many housewives will also receive steam cleaners.
