I'm currently working with a professional researcher on my family history but am doing a lot of investigation on my own as well. Looking for anyone who with good knowledge of Carrara and its history, or who may have contacts there who may be able to help research 19th century history. Also, hoping to find anyone who may have knowledge of my family there or possibly even a connection.
Family names are Picciati, Orsolini, Tognocchi.
My great-grandfather was Alcide Picciati, married Amalia Raggi. Alcide arrived in VT (later settled in Baltimore) somewhere around 1893. Not certain if they were married in Carrara or Vermont. Amalia may or may not have been from Carrara. Alcide was born in 1868, one of at least 8 children (all with names starting with 'A') including Alma, Addono, Aronte, Aldo, and others between 1868-1883. We believe that Aldo was the only other one who came to the U.S.
Alcide's parents were Alessio Picciati (1839-1893) and Amalia Tognocchi. Amalia was related somehow to the Orsolini family. In the late 1880's-early 1890's she was named as a co-owner of the Orsolini quarry along with Pietro Orsolini in a lawsuit filed over excavation rights.
Alessio's father was Giovanni Picciati. He had a sister named Carolina Picciati, and another sister (name unknown) who died in 1909 in Carrara. Amalia's father was Antonio Tognocchi.
Among old family stories were a scandal of some sort involving a family member who was a member of the clergy, and two relatives who were executed in some sort of political protest/uprising. Please email me if you have any information or can point me in any directions.

I am looking for information regarding my father's family. We can go back only as far as my grandfather. His name was Giacomo Pari and his last residence in Italy was Forli del Sannio, Campobasso. His father's name was Mariano Pari and he was from the area of Caserta and his mother's name was Carmella Costanza also from Forli del Sannio. I have relatives in Italy, however, I do not have access to them; I know their names are Concetta, Rafaella (or Raphaella), Franco, and Nicola . I am very interested in communicating with my family in Italy. Please email me if you are a Pari - I would love to hear from you and possibly further enrich my ancestry. Thank you,

Mannella, Amadio. n. 1874 Ateleta. Immigrated to USA in 1892 through Ellis Island. The following Mannella family members (all from Ateleta), were on board the same ship with Amadio: Luisa, Ambrogio, Amerigio, Anna and an unnamed boy of four months of age. Amadio went by the name Frank J. Mannella, lived in the Pittsburgh, Pa. area, had several children, including a son "Joe" who may have died in WWII and died around 1940. If you have any information on this family, it would be greatly appreciated. I have been digging for ten years and would love to be able to revisit Italy (not that an excuse is needed).
