Hi, my name is Jessica Antoinette Hernandez. Most people would look at my last name and automatically assume that I am Mexican American, which I am. But, I also have Italian blood in me. My father is mexican, but my maternal great grandfather is from Genoa, Italy. He immigrated to the U.S. I believe in the early 1900's, his name was Guiesseppi Arango. He ended up in New York and worked on the railroads and slowly worked his way to California. There he met my great grandmother whom he married and had my gradmother, Ophelia Antoinette Arango. Unfortunately, my great grandfather Guisseppi never talked about his relatives, nor had any pictures of them. I know he had some because everyone does right? I was very close to my grandmother and would love to see if there are any people out there that could possibly be related to me. My grandmother, mother and all their relatives have Italian features, so I would love to get to know if there's anyone out there that could possibly be a distant cousin to me. This means a lot to me because my culture is very important to me. If you, or anyone you know is related to me, I would appreciate if you would contact me. Im a 23 year old female living in Southern California, and would love to hear from you. Please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks, Jessica.

I am trying to find out about my Mother's grandmother. The story I've heard is that she was born in the hills of Calabria. I think it might have been Serrastretta, Catanzaro. Her mother was a peasant and her father was some land baron. I don't have either of their names. My Mother's Grandmother was named Guiditta and she was born in 1889. She had a younger sister named Francessca who the town called Novantanove (99) because she was the ninety-ninth child of the land baron. I believe both girls were raised by the Cardamone family. That was the maiden name I have but I don't think it was their father's or mother's name. Guiditta came to America in 1909 and married Francesco Graziano. Francessca married John Cardamone and also came to America - I don't know the date. I would appreciate any information anyone might have on this fascinating story. thank you

Hello. My name is Davide Massimi. My home town in Abruzzi is Cermignano, 2 km from Cellino. My father, Rocco Massimi, originally came from Bisenti and married my mother, Francesca Ursini. My father had 7 brothers and 2 sisters. I have 9 siblings. I moved from Italy in 1972 and have been living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada since then. I wonder if we're possibly distant cousins.

Hello, Thank you for enabling me to post this message in the hope that one of my many cousins who live in and around Giulianova will contact me. Our father was raised in Giulianova and left for the United States around 1938. Our mother's relatives were also from the Abruzzo but we are not sure who they are at this point since her father's name is Romani which is a very common name, consequently I have not been able to trace our relatives in Abruzzo since there are many Romani's. I have been to Abruzzo several times in the past and have met some of my cousins (Mario, Liliana, and Giuliana). Their father's name is Alessandro who passed away sometime in the 1960's. Mario, Giuliana and Liliana are married and should be around 60 to 67 years of age. If you know them please be kind enough to ask them to send me an email, preferably in English since my Italian is poor. Thank you for allowing me to post this message. Telephone 703-754-6222 in the USA.

I am responding to the March 3, 2007 post of Kristopher Granchelli. I am unable to contact Kristopher directly since there was no E-Mail address attached. My father is Guiseppe Granchelli, born in Civitella Casanova in 1929. His father was Vincenzo, born approx 1895 and his mother was Marianna DeCamillus from Carpineto Dell Nora also born approx 1895 or 1895. My Grandparents had 2 children, my Dad and my Aunt Mary who was born in New York City approx 1933. My grandparents immigrated to New York at approx 1932. My Grandfather was an ornamental iron worker. I know that my great-grandfather (Vincenzo's father) was also Guiseppe. My grandfather came from a large family and I know of two names, Gaetano (who lived to be 100 and died withing the past 10 years) and Tom. (Dad said that Tom was a prankster and lots of fun to be with) My Grandparents did go back to Italy in their later years and are both buried in Civitella Casanova. It is my fondest earthly desire to visit the Pescara region and find some Granchelli's. Kristopher, I found a wonderful local newspaper that is printed monthly from the Civitella Region. I have a hard time reading Italian, but I can get the idea of some of it, and the pictures are wonderful. www.parallelovestino.com When you get there, click on "Civitella and Dintorni". Also, I would be happy to put you in touch with my Dad also. Best Regards. Lisa
