I am searching for the Spera family tree. Giovanni Spera was my husband's (Dennis) grandfather. Giovanni had brothers Luigi & Guiseppi. Giovanni ended up immigrating to USA. Luigi immigrated to Venezuela. I do not know yet of other brothers or sisters. A Spera relative is reported to once have been Mayor of Capestrano. Any information would be helpful.

Hello,I am a second-generation Italian American, with family from the town of Fallo in Abruzzo. I've never been to visit this ancestral home, but I would like to one day. I was born in 1952 and raised in and around boston, MA. My father is a well-known Jazz musician, Charlie Mariano and he has six daughters! I would love to correspond with someone from Fallo, or who still lives there. I use a translation service that is on-line, so I can correspond in Italian, too. God bless! Ciao, Cynthia

My whole family comes from the small town of Pietracamela, province of Teramo, Abruzzi. We came over to the United States in 1959 and settled in Chicago. Until a few years ago, my aunt still lived in the town. Family members have gone back several times. I have not been back since 1987. Would be interested in hearing from anyone on my hometown.

This is a great website. I feel like I have somewhere to start with my family search.
I have found the name "Ciampoli" all over the region in historical and current listings, but I cannot locate my grandfather's name, Giuseppe. I do not know his parents' names, but I do know his brothers' names, which were Vincenzo and Amadeo. They were all born in Italy, and my father says we still have family there, possibly in Francavilla al Mare, or the Pescara/Chieti area. If anyone knows anything about these people, please contact me. I am in the very beginning stages of research, so any information would be helpful.

I am researching my grandfather's geneology. His name was Alfred Carifa (likely Alfreddo Carifa), born in Introdacqua around 1895 or so. His father was Giovanni Carifa, also from Introdacqua. His mother's maiden name was Pelino from Sulmona; apparently, she died in a flood in Italy around 1900. Giovanni Carifa emigrated to New York City around 1900. He later sent for my grandfather, Alfred, around 1904. My grandfather recalled travelling from a relative's home in Carpinone to Napoli to board a ship named the Mulkie, sailing from Napoli to New York. His sister, Lena, lived with Pelino relatives in Sulmona until Giovanni sent for her sometime in the early 1900s.
I am trying to get information regarding the Carifa family in Introdacqua. If anyone has any information, please e-mail me. Thanks!

Hello,
Is anyone researching the Di Francesco or D'Annunzio families from Castelli,
Teramo? Our branches of the Di Francesco family emigrated to Ontario,
Canada in about 1911/12.
I'm just beginning research in Italy & any assistance anyone can share will
be greatly appreciated.
I'd like to send for Civil Records, Birth (Long Form), Marriage & Death. Does
anyone know the fee for these? Also, if you send for church records, will
a fee be charged or is a donation appropriate, if so, what amount would be
acceptable to send?
Thanks,

I am looking for information about the Luciotti and the D'Egidio families. Francesco Luciotti was from Montefino, and Adelina D'Egidio from Castiglione. They are my great grandparents. Francesco immigrated to the US in 1903 aboard the Leon XIII; and, Adelina from Castiglione in 1910 aboard the Duca DiGenova. Both arrived at Ellis Island. Where did they marry? They raised a large family in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Some of their children's names include: Russell (their oldest son, and my paternal grandfather), Carlos, Anthony, Barney, Belman, Mary, Stella, and twin girls (names unknown, they died around the age of 2). I am 50 years old now and want to leave my sons with our family tree. Oh how I wish we had photos of Francesco and Adelina...

Last night (A[ril 3/2002) I watched part of the movie "Ladyhawk" and found out that it was filmed in Aquila. As my husband studied in Aquila and lived in the palazzo per i convitori during the late 1950's and early 1960's, but does not remember much. I was very intrigued to see the beautiful scenery and architecture, as I did not have the opportunity to visit that part of Italy in person. Today I was trying to see the castel (monasterie in the film) and found a lot of slides, all of which I enjoyed very much. Thank you for the opportunity and it would be lovely to see some fotos of the inside and outside of the castelli that were the locations for that movie (1985, I think). Speriamo un giorno non tanto lontano di venire li a rinfrescare memorie. Grazie tanto, tanto. Gerda Foti
