My family was so proud of me when, thru Pierangela Badia, I finally found out my father's mother's maiden name. It was Sammaciccia and my father, Giovanni Zulli was born in Tollo, Chieti in 1885. I understand that there are no more Zullis living in Tollo but there are some Sammaciccias. I sure would love to hear from anyone. Thanks for a great website.

This is a wonderful site to help people "connect!" I'm researching several names: CAFARELLI from Roccamorice P. Pescara, LaPENNA & DiLAPPIA from Campobasso, PALLONE & SACCO from Cosenza Calabria, and PAPALIA di Reggio Calabria. If anyone has any information on these names, or thinks there is a connection, please contact me.

Also, in November 2000 I visited the paese (Roccamorice) of my maternal grandfather Salvatore Cafarelli. I met my 1st cousins once removed, the FERRARI's. I had a wonderful time while in the area, and have dedicated a website to my journey, complete with photos of them, and the area. My mother immigrated to the states in December 1957 with her mother, Gulia DiLabio, father, Coradino Palumbaro and her two sisters. Her brother and his family remained in Bucchianco. Last year I returned to Bucchianco in March and again in September. I stayed with my Zia Nella DiLabio. Her son Floriano Palumbaro lives in Bucchianco with his family. Her daughter Maria Palombaro lives in Chieti with her family. Both trips were wonderful. I have beautiful pictures of Bucchianco and the surrounding towns. I can't wait to get back there this year. My greatgrandparents were Emidio FIORAVANTI and Francesca PARLAFANTI. They were farmers in Civitella del Tronto. My grandfather, Guido, born in 1897, emigrated to the USA in 1914. He had a brother named Alfredo, who emigrated earlier and lived in Chicago, Illinois, and a brother named Arturo, who stayed in Civitella. He may have had a sister named Maria. There could also have been a brother or cousin named Bernardino, born 1890. There was a Bernardino on the ship's list, also from Civitella. The researcher didn't provide me with the details, as I was looking only for Guido. Guido's last residence, according to the ship's manifest, was Borrano.
Would like to make contact with anyone recognizing these names.

They both came to the US via New York and settled in Massachusetts. Josephine's parents were Anglea Puleo and Luigi Micalone, but I don't know the names of Emidio DiIulio's parents. In America, their name came to be spelled Dululio.

If you're interested in the new book "Storia e origini di Ateleta fino all'anno 2000" by Francesco Le Donne, please e-mail me. this is a great book if you're doing research on your ancestors from Ateleta.
All the information has been researched in the archives in Naples, Sulmona and L'Aquila.
It contains a list of names who first settled Ateleta in the early 1800's. It has rough plats as
to how the land was divided. It has who died in WW2 and who was a prisoner of war.
Very interesting book.

I was with the 84th Depot Repair Squadron that was stationed briefly at the Pescara Air Field during World War II. A squadron of B-26 bombers were flown by South Africans from the airfield at that time. I am very interested in Pescara and what that air field might be like now. I would like to correspond with a resident of Pescara concerning Pescara, the airfield, and an old flour mill that was near the airfield. My wife and my sister and I visited Pescara in 1994, but our stay then was to short for me to find the airfield. We did manage to have a pleasant dining experience at a seaside restaurant in Pescara. I like your web page very much and I hope to hear from someone in Pescara.

Many thanks for this informative site. My sister and her husband established contact with our family in Brittoli in August 2000. My grandfather, Antonio DiPaolo 1891-1950 immigrated to Boston U.S.A. and eventually to Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia ,Canada circa 1918-1920. He eventually found his way to Minto, New Brunswick Canada where he raised a family of four one of whom is my father John Earl Russell DiPaolo b.1921. I will be establishing a web page very soon in order to share our information with those of you who wish to explore our common ancestry. My grandfather had two brothers , Luigi DiPaolo and Franco DiPaolo. All brothers served in the military. Franco has sons John and Anthony in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. When my sister Linda Caron (DiPaolo) established contact with family members in Brittoli I understand that the parents of my Granfather, Antonio DiPaolo to be Giovanni DiPaolo and Maria G. Velluto also of Brittoli. I understand that the surname Sylvestri has significance in our ancestry as well. Should you have information to share it would be appreciated. Randy W. DiPaolo
