This small village in the valley of the Sangro river, runs along a rocky ridge dominated by the ruins of the old castle, not far from Sangro Lake.

History
Listed in the Catalogus Baronum (1150-1168) as Petram Garanzanam, in the early 14th century appeared as Petraguaranzana. It belonged to the Ricci, the Caracciolo, de Tino, Niccolò and finally to the Ariani family. It was a commune until 1923, then was part of the municipality of Colledimezzo, and again became a commune in 1963.
