Italian Genealogy Forums Archive
These forums started in 1998 when the web was a totally different place and message boards were widely used as friendly places to connect and research family history, to post questions and exchange ideas and experiences connected to heritage, genealogy, history, traditions in Italy. The expanse of social networks and the availability of online civil records gradually made message boards a bit obsolete. As of May 2020 there were over 40,000 postings.
Though replies and new posts are not possible any longer, the forums have been kept available as reference out of respect for the thousands of visitors that contributed through the years valuable information in the field of research in Italian genealogy and family history, and could still help in finding relatives or contacting others researching the same place or surnames in Italy. In a way, these archived forums preserve the "legacy" of the so many visitors that since the early years of the web, when resources for research were limited and social networks almost non-existent, contributed their knowledge and shared efforts in enriching the heritage of Italian descendants in the world.
