Of great value are the frescoes of the "Crypt of Epiphanius", which has been called a "monastic Pompeii". The scientific excavations continued through the 1980s and 1990s under the direction of Hodges and with the support of the British School at Rome (official archaeological site of San Vincenzo).
In 1989 San Vincenzo al Volturno became home to the Benedictine nuns of Connecticut Regina Laudis.
