Pope John XXIII
On 3 December 1963, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the US highest civilian award, in recognition of the good relationship between Pope John XXIII and the United States of America.
His last words were from John's Gospel, Ut omnes unum sint.
On 3 September 2000, he was declared a Blessed and then canonized by Pope Francis on 27 April 2014, the same day as Pope John Paul II.
