Italian regional songs
The Italian traditional songs here suggested are accompanied by lyrics, often translation into English and video clips, and are organized by region.
Italy has a very rich cultural heritage of "archaic meloi", very differentiated regionally, and researchers and ethno-musicologists have collected, transcribed and catalogued hundreds of ancient melodies of the oral tradition that would otherwise have been lost. Often, these melodies can have different texts, and may have been collected in very distant geographic contexts, or even the same text may have been adapted to different musics.
