Francesco De Gregori

Francesco De Gregori, born in Rome on 4 April 1951, is among the most important songwriters on the Italian music scene, although he prefers to be identified simply as an "artist".

Music

Popularly known as "Il Principe", for the elegance of his lyrics, he was called by Bob Dylan "the legend of Italian pop music".

In his songs he joins sounds close to popular music, while his lyrics make an extensive use of synesthesia and metaphors, often not immediately recognizable, with intimate passages, ethical and political themes often with references to current events and history.
