Procurade 'e moderare,
barones, sa tirannia,
chi si no, pro vida mia,
torrades a pe’ in terra.
torrades a pe’ in terra.
Declarada es' già sa gherra
contra de sa prepotenzia
e cominza sa passienzia,
in su pòbulu a faltare.
in su pòbulu a faltare.
Try to moderate
tyranny, or barons,
because otherwise, for my life,
Put your feet on the ground!
Is already prepared a war
Against tyranny
and people begin
to lack patience.

Mirade chi est azzendende
contra de 'ois su fogu;
mirade chi no es' giogu
chi sa cosa andat 'e veras,
chi sa cosa andat 'e veras,
chi sa cosa andat 'e veras,
mirade chi sas aéras
minettana temporale;
zente consirzata male,
iscultade sa 'oghe mia.
iscultade sa 'oghe mia.
See that the fire is already
turning against you,
mind you that is not a game
and things are getting serious,
take care that the winds
are threatening storm.
Misguided people
hear my voice
hear my voice.

No apprettedas s'isprone
a su poveru runzinu,
si no in mesu caminu
s'arrempellat appuradu:
s'arrempellat appuradu:
s'arrempellat appuradu:
minzi ch'es' lanzu e cansadu
e no nde pode' piùsu;
finalmente a fundu in susu
s'imbastu nd'hat a bettare.
s'imbastu nd'hat a bettare.
Do not continue with spurs
against the poor hack,
because otherwise it will stop
exhausted in the street;
See that it is thin and battered
and can no longer bear it
and eventually will throw
the saddle upside down
the saddle upside down.

Su pobulu ch'in profundu
letargu fì sepultadu,
finalmente despertadu
s'abbizza ch'est in cadena,
s'abbizza ch'est in cadena,
s'abbizza ch'est in cadena,
ch'ista' suffrende sa pena
de s'indolenzia antiga:
feudu, legge inimiga
a bona filosofia.
a bona filosofia.
The people who were buried
in deep hibernation,
finally awakened
realize they're in chains
and suffering the penalty
of ancient sloth.
Feud, a law enemy
to good philosophy
to good philosophy!

Che ch'esseret una 'inza,
una tanca, unu cunzadu,
sas biddas hana donadu
de regalu o bendissione;
de regalu o bendissione;
de regalu o bendissione;
comente unu cumone
de bestias berveghinas
sos homines e feminas
han bendidu cun sa cria
han bendidu cun sa cria.
How they give up a vineyard,
a pasture or a farm,
so they gave away villages
as gift or sale;
like a herd
of sheepish beasts
they sold men and women
with their offspring
with their offspring.

Pro pagas mizas de liras,
e tale 'olta pro niente,
isclavas eternamente
tantas pobulassiones,
tantas pobulassiones,
tantas pobulassiones,
e migliares de persones
servint a unu tiranu,
Poveru generu humanu,
povera Sarda zenia!
povera Sarda zenia!
For a little money,
and sometimes for nothing,
Eternally enslaved
so many populations
and thousands of people
are enslaved to a tyrant!
Poor human race,
poor Sardinian generation
poor Sardinian generation!

Sas tassas in su prinzipiu
Esigiazis limitadas,
Dae pustis sunu istadas
Ogni die aumentende,
Ogni die aumentende,
Ogni die aumentende,
A misura chi creschende
Sezis andados in fastu,
A misura chi in su gastu
Lassezis s'economia
Lassezis s'economia.
The taxes at the beginning
they required limited
later they were
every day increasing,
as they grew
you went in pomp,
as in the expenditure
you let the economy
you let the economy.

O poveros de sas biddas,
Trabagliade, trabagliade
Pro mantenner in zittade
Tantos caddos de istalla
Tantos caddos de istalla
Tantos caddos de istalla.
A bois lassan sa palla,
Issos regoglin su ranu:
E pensan sero e manzanu
Solamente a ingrassare
Solamente a ingrassare.
You poor of the villages,
you work, you work
to keep in the city
many horses in the stables.
To you they leave straw,
they take the grain:
And they care evening and morning
only to put on weight
only to put on weight.

Solamente a ingrassare.
barones, sa tirannia,
Procurade 'e moderare
Only to put on weight
Barons, the tyranny
try to moderate

Si no, calchi die a mossu
Bo nde segade' su didu:
Si no, calchi die a mossu
Bo nde segade' su didu:
If not, some day in a bite
you'll cut your finger:

Como ch'e' su filu ordidu
A bois toccat a tessere;
Como ch'e' su filu ordidu
A bois toccat a tessere;
Now that the thread is spun
you have to weave;

Minzi chi poi det essere
Tardu s'arrepentimentu;
Minzi chi poi det essere
Tardu s'arrepentimentu;
Beware, it might be too late
for your afterthought;

Candu si tene' su bentu
Es prezisu bentulare.
Candu si tene' su bentu
Es prezisu bentulare.
When the wind comes
you must thresh.

Barones, sa tirannia,
Procurade 'e moderare.
Barons, the tyranny
try to moderate
