Basilicata regional songs

Basilicata, the heart of the Southern Italy, preserves memories of an ancestral agricultural and pastoral economy.

In the region's musical culture appear little known or completely unknown instruments, as the harp of Viggiano, the sampagne made of canes, the swing guitar, as well as reare dances, as the dance with a scythe or the tarantella with a belt, which seems to derive from the Albanian populations that settled in the sixteenth century in the Pollino area.
