Gesù Bambino l'è nato

A traditional song of the Canavese area, arranged and published in 1996.
The Canavese (Canavèis) is a historical and geographical region of Piedmont extended between the Serra di Ivrea, the Po, the Stura di Lanzo, and the Graian Alps - that is to say, the area between Turin and the Aosta Valley, whose main town is Ivrea.

Gesù Bambino l'è nato
in tanta povertà
l'è senza pesse né fasse
e né fuoco da riscaldar
The Christ Child was born
in such poverty
he has no clothes or bands
and no fire to warm him

Maria lo ammira
Setà chila sospira
perché l'è nato al mondo
chi tutti vuol salvar
Mary admires him
Satan there is sighing
because he was born in the world
who wants to save everyone

Ognun faccia l'ebbrezza
che è nato il Redentor
il fior d'ogni bellezza
a l'è tutto pien d'amor
Everyone may rejoice
that the Redeemer was born
the flower of all beauty
he is all filled with love

Stanotte l'è nato
il Verbo incarnato
perché l'è nato al mondo
chi tutti vuol salvar
Tonight was born
the Incarnate Word
because he was born in the world
who wants to save everyone

Giuseppe vecchiarello
lo stava a rimirar
il bue e l'asinello
lo stavano a riscaldar
Old Joseph
was there to behold him
the ox and the donkey
were there to warm him

Venite pastori
a fare grandi onori
perché l'è nato al mondo
chi tutti vuol salvar
Come in O shepherds
to do great honors
because he was born in the world
who wants to save everyone

Tre Magi dall'Oriente
lo vengono a ritrovar
con oro incenso e mirra
gli vengono a donar
Three Magi from the East
come to visit him
with gold incense and myrrh
they come to give gifts
