Francesco Guccini was born in Modena on 14 June 1940. Since his official debut in 1967 he has published over twenty albums. Apart from music, he is a keen scholar of lexicology, linguistics, etymology, translation and drama.
The texts of many among his songs are often treated as poems, and he appears among 20th century poets in Italian literary anthologies, as Fabrizio de André, Giorgio Gaber, Francesco De Gregori and other prominent lyrics writers. Guccini plays the folk guitar, and most of the music he composed employs this basic instrument. He authored also many songs of other Italian singers, among his most famous collaboration that with the group "i Nomadi".
