Popoli Marriages 1809-1818
The marriages from the first ten years of the civil records have been ordered by surname -- in the original they are listed by first name -- and each record appears twice, once indexed by bridegrrom's surname, and a second time by bride's surname.
The original documents are in the State Archive of L'Aquila (Popoli was part of this province until the late 1920's) and a copy is also in the LDS microfilms. As researchers well know, each original marriage act is accompanied by a "processetto" with extracts of births of both spouses, death extract of any deceased parent and in case of a deceased father also extract of death of the paternal grandfather, which will take research back to mid 1700 at least. Also marriages of siblings or cousins of the main line will be of great importance to this regard.
